I introduced them today as play mates, but i think the hamster bites the guinea pig..? i cant tell because of long and wild fur..but at first i thought the hamster was just cuddling with her until she flinched and i put the hamster in its own cage. I was just wondering if anyone has heard of this being able to work. They are in their own separate cages but just play during the day together..or thats what I'm trying to get them to do.

  1. It won't work. They'll be happier if you just put their cages so they can see each other. The hamster is likely to see the guinea pig as a threat especially as it gets bigger.

  2. Be careful, many hamsters are generally solitary.

  3. ok most of the time there will be a dominate person in the cage so be careful if he eats him alive or if she get's pregnant or something.. best thing to do it get another cage till they became better "friends" then put them in same cage

  4. Nope don't put them together anymore, but guinea pigs are pretty sociable animals so they like the company of other guinea pigs. but hamsters are the oppisite of that.

  5. No, they are different species. And they can't get away from each other.

  6. NO.

    Just no.

Don't get them to play together either.

Hamsters are territorial, and don't even tolerate other hamsters, let alone a specie ten times as big as them- they can't communicate the same way.

Jeez. All animals don't, and shouldn't, interact.
