  1. if you mean cooing, then no. you may hear other things though, such as the baby moving all around or hiccups.

  2. I would guess no - their lungs aren't developed fully and they get their oxygen through the cord, so they wouldn't be able to cry or anything while inside.

  3. Your question

Is it possible for the baby to make a noise before birth -- one that the parents can discern?

    The expert answers

A baby's lungs are not inflated while the baby's in the womb -- so there is no mechanism by which he could make a sound.

Fetal circulation occurs between the mother and the baby via the umbilical cord, so his lungs don't really come into play until he is delivered and takes that first breath. Overall, it's unlikely that any type of noise emitted through the throat and mouth could be discernable.PregnancyAndBaby.com

  4. Yes.  Many babies hiccup.  If you mean vocalized noises, probably not.  Since you require air to breathe and voice any utterance, then babies cannot do that because they are not breathing inside the womb.

  5. No a baby cannot make sounds in the womb. In order to make a sound the baby would have to have air in it's lungs and it doesn't until after birth.
