Hi,

I am working in australia on 457 visa. We are having our baby back in our home country. I am just willing to know if I can include the baby on mother's passport will the baby be able to travel to australia. Or I need to get baby's own passport and then apply for visa. As visa process in australia takes alot of time and i just want the fastest way possible to travel my baby to australia.

Thanks

  1. It depends. If you are going to be entering Australia for a holiday with your baby, yes.I had my middle child on my Irish passport and came back home to Australia with her on my passport.

When my husband and children were migrating out to Australia with me,I was not allowed to have her on my passport.

I had  to get her own Irish and Australian passport.

To be on the safe side, your best bet is to ring immigration about it.

If possible ring Australian immigration here in Australia,as I have had dealings with Australian immigration overseas and the information they gave me about getting my 3 children into Australia was completely wrong.

    Take care.

  2. You're going to have to go through the visa process.

The only time your baby can travel with you to another country on your passport is if the baby is still inside of you.

The best and only way to get your baby here safely to Australia would be getting them there own passport and visa, it'll be worth it in the end instead of taking your baby here without the visa and then having your baby sent back to your country.

  3. Apparently not, see https://www.passports.gov.au/Web/Newppt/...

  4. I'm pretty sure the baby needs their own passport.

  5. No each individual needs to have a passport. When i was barely one i went to england with my parents so i have a passport with my baby photo. I was so cute lol

  6. Here is the scoop- once you put a baby on your passport it can not travel outside the country alone with Dad.

If you are fine with this then by all means put the baby on your passport.

Keep in mind your passport is good for 5 years so look into your crystal ball to know what lies ahead in all your travel plans.

  7. You will need both a passport and a visa for your baby. It may be a good idea to contact the Australian High Commissioner or Embassy in your home country to see if the visa application could be expedited.

  8. It used to be the case many years ago when a baby could travel on mothers passport but that no longer applies. So baby needs a passport .If your coming over as a visitor for less than 3 months I wouldn't think you need to apply for a seperate visa it's done automatically when you enter but ring your nearest Australian high commision and they will tell you. i don't know what country your from . I can travel to many countries all the Commonwealth ones and just enter as a visitor
