I'm just wondering if a ball boy can catch for an out? I thought I've seen it done before on a line drive to one.

  1. No it would be interference. It would only be an out if an opposing player catches it.

  2. No.  He/she is not one of the 9 players on the field that are able to record an out.  If he gets in the way of a play its interference..../

  3. Nope, he isn't a member of the team.

  4. No, if they catch it it doesn't count, might even count as interference because thats like someone on the bench catching it.

  5. No

  6. It would not be an out since the ball boy is not part of the people playing on the field...it would be a nice catch but not worth any thing to the game.

  7. no, if the players on the field have a shot at catching the ball for an out, and the ball boy grabs it, it does not count as an out.

the pitch would probably be replayed over or it would be called a strike

and after the game the team would take the ball boys uni and never ask him to return

  8. nooooooo

  9. Ball boys don't do anything besides supply the umps with balls and grab the bats.  They may do other things as well, but certainly can't participate in the game.

  10. u know the answer. dont ask stupid questions.

  11. No.

If the ball boy was to interfere with a ball in play, the umpire would probably rule the batter second base.

If the ball was out of play the ball boy could, to protect themselves stop a line drive, most however are trained to get out of the way.

  12. No, their not apart of the real baseball team.  If they catch it it's either an interference or just let the teams get on with their lives and play ball.
