  1. Yes, but be careful that stuff spreads like wildfire and is very hard to get rid of. If you wish to plant suggest you put in a pot to prevent the shoots from spreading.


  2. It depends if your are speaking of "Lucky Bamboo" it's not true bamboo.  It's usually grown best in a small amount of water.The link below will tell you how to care for it.

    The "True bamboo" will grow quite nicely in soil and contrary to "it spreads like wildfire"  it depends on which one you plant.

    There are only 2 kinds.  Running bamboo and that does spread/invasive.  The other is clumping bamboo and it is not invasive nor does it spread .
