I've seen in documentaries how people live in boats in hong kong. in quite big boats, almost ships. I can pay for everything I need. so could I live like this without owning any other home? cause many boats have bathrooms, kitchen and all the basic stuff people usually need.

  1. Sure, you can live in a houseboat!  With all the comforts of traditional homes.  How-some-ever, a boat, no matter what kind of boat, has to have barnacles removed from their bottoms and require all kinds of special things--things that I can't tell you what are because I've never lived on a houseboat!!!  You need to ask somebody who lives on one or, probably better, a marina where they specialize in houseboat repairs!

    Good luck.

  2. I live on my boat in US and know lots of others who do also, families even. You do not need to have a home on land unless you want to. However, know this.........marinas which allow liveaboard owners are getting harder to find.

  3. it'd be cool for the summer, but you would be kind of out of society...how would ask someone to your house.."do you wanna come over to my house...i mean boat". sounds kind of weird

  4. Well, if that one guy on American idol can live in his car then I guess it is possible for someone to live on a boat!

  5. yes i think so

  6. Yes you can easily. You can also write it off as a home if it has all the right ammenities.Running water, enclosed head, cooking area(hot plate). My 33 off shore has none off these but I still write it off as a second home.

  7. boats sink at the darndest times.

  8. yes u can live on a boat and you can even homestead the home in some states

  9. yes

  10. You most certainly can. and it would be cheaper than buying a house. I would love to live on a boat but the wife won't go for it.

  11. well, you probably don't think you would have to pay property taxes, but boats are expensive... so yes you could live on a boat without owning another home, but i don't know about if it's cheaper

  12. yes you can live in a boat and it may or maynot be cheaper becuase you still have to buy food, gas and stuff like that  I don't know try it out and let me know :)

  13. Home is where the heart is, if your heart is in a boat, go for it,

  14. My husband and I lived on our boat, a sailboat, not a houseboat.  People who live on boats full time are often called "live aboards".  Some live aboards are cruisers - they travel, sometimes around the world - and some live aboards stay in one place and don't travel.  We mostly anchored, and dinghied ashore, so we did not use marinas.   If you have what it takes to live that lifestyle you can live quite cheaply on a boat.  We loved living in our boat, but we did not have a lot of money, and did not need a lot of money.  We did some travelling in the Bahamas and the rest of the Caribbean.   People visit back and forth all the time, mostly other live aboards and cruisers rather than people living a traditional shore life.  A boat can cost as much or as little as you want.  The most important thing is that it is seaworthy and can be made relatively comfortable.  So, yes, absolutely you can live on a boat and it can be a wonderful home.

  15. that'd be cool to live in a boat (when their arent any storms)
