Can a boy and a girl be best friends with no sentimental attachements?

From the guy's point, I don't think so, but i wanted to hear other peoples version. Please state why as well. 10x!

If by sentimental you mean sexual or romantic, then yes, boys and girls can be friends with no sexual overtones or romantic undercurrents. I prefer the company of men to that of women, and s*x or romance is definitely NOT on the table with any of them. The idea that men and women only co-exist for the sake of s*x and relationships is poppycock! Women and men have plenty of reasons to like one another that are not based on s*x, and saying that they cannot be friends without some sort of romantic interest involved is disrespectful to BOTH genders.

The reasons to be friends with someone of the opposite gender are the same as the reasons to be friends with someone of the same gender. Why couldn't they be friends? Because women aren't "technical" enough to interest men? Because men don't like fashion or soap operas? You can see how ridiculous that is. I have lots of male friends because I prefer traditionally male activities like video games and riding my motorcycle, and I DON'T like traditionally female things like going to the mall or playing mind games. The female friends I do have feel the same way that I do about those things. Shared interests is why you make friends, not the number of X or Y chromosomes a person has.

If you actually MEAN sentimental, then no, no one can be friends with anyone without sentimental attachments. Sentimental meaning "having sentiment", or better put, to care for. I should think we are all sentimentally attached to all of our friends! I for one care for all of my friends very deeply male or female!

And yeah, of course.  It's easier when you are older and over the whole high school drama c**p, but it's totally possible.

Reasons?  Because women and men are people too.

I have a husband and I have best friends who are guys and he has best friends who are women,we are fine with it.  shows we trust each other   If you have a partner and want to have best friends with guys and gals you both must trust each other truthfully  otherwise it will never work out.

Well. I think guys and girls can be 'friends' but BEST friends. I'm not sure. I personally, need girls to be close to and chat to and tell secrets too. But I guess some other girls don't need that quality in a best friend.

I have many guy friends and we dont have any sentimental attachmentst. I think its possible. But none are my best friends.
