  1. This decision is really up to you.  A number of things might help you  determine if  you should/benefit from changing.

If you are going from a formal ceremony to an informal reception (like a BBQ in the backyard) - think about dressing down for the reception.

If you are having a themed reception (like Las Vegas Nights) - think about changing into an outfit that would follow that theme.

If you belong to a religion where it is not only accpeted but expected that you have different outfits for each part of your special day - think about choosing outfits that would be appropriate for each event.

If you love your wedding dress - think about wearing it through the entire reception (that is what I did).

The long and the short... it might make sense for you to change outfits or it might not.  Whatever you decide, have a WONDERFUL wedding!

  2. it all depends to wat the bride wants, but it is always nice wen the bride changes into a nice dress during reception unless if the bride wants to stay in her wedding gown the whole day.

  3. I stayed in mine until I changed into my 'going away' dress, which I changed into very late into the reception. Probably about 25mins before we had to leave.

  4. Years ago. Like forty years. Women  would change into their going away outfits,Just before leaving the reception, This isn't done anymore most couples stay at the party until the very end. And you spend so much money on your dress that you'll want to leave it on as long as you can.

  5. I was torn when it came to this decision.  I wanted to wear my beautiful dress all night but had several reasons for changing into another dress.

    1. My dress didn't bustle, so I had to carry the train the whole time.

    2. The dress was beautiful but very heavy and hot!

    3. We took dance lessons for our first dance, so I wanted people to see my feet.

Due to these reasons, I chose to change into another, smaller, more comfortable dress.  If you don't have to worry about anything else, just enjoy your dress for the rest of the night!

  6. Most stay in their gown.

    I did.

I never understood the ones who change.

I don't understand to pay multi hundreds, if not thousands, to wear for only 15 to 30 mins (plus an hour for pictures for example). Just to take it off.

  7. Alot of women now days are getting two dresses, a more elegant, formal gown for the ceremony and pictures, and a more modern fun gown for the reception. But to save on cost, it is traditional to stay in your one gown for the entire evening.

  8. I know only one person who changed her clothes and that was my aunt. Most women stay in their gown.

  9. I think it's disappointing when a bride changes. Don't do it!

  10. Some brides wear the full gown for the ceremony and photos and change to a simpler white dress for the reception to be more comfortable, and some change before leaving.

  11. I have never seen a bride change out of her gown.  When you pick "the dress" and spend your money....you should just wear it!

  12. i guess you could change if you wanted to. but normally brides stay in their gown all night.

  13. I paid several hundred dollars for my dress, your darn tootin I will be staying in it for the entire wedding reception!

  14. Most women stay in their gown, but some do change just to be comfortable.

  15. Wear it the whole time.Your only wearing it once.

  16. I've been to tons of weddings, and never have seen a bride change. I think you get one day to wear that spectacular gown, and should stay in it! If you have a train, you just get it bustled up so it's easy to dance and get around in.

  17. I was going to have two wedding dresses for my wedding, a big traditional one with a long train for the ceremony and pictures and then one without a train and sleeves so I could wear a good bra for dancing.  I think that idea is become more popular now. And the bridal stores I went to said that it is very "European" to do that, so I guess they do that in Europe.

Anyway, I was going to design my reception dress for my mom to make, but I love the design soo much that I am just going to wear that one the whole day.  I know I won't want to have my ceremony/pictures with me wearing anything but my amazing dress!

    Good Luck!

  18. It's all up to you.  I was having a backyard reception and we knew that the weather was going to be really hot and humid.  So I made sure to get a sundress to change into just in case I was too hot and uncomfortable in my gown.  The last thing I wanted to do was pass out from the heat.

Turns out that it was not only really humid during the day, but it started pouring rain as we got to the house.  Thankfully it helped with the heat.  I ended up staying in my dress for most of the night.  I changed around 11pm when a bunch of people had already left for the night.  We ourselves left around midnight.  I had just gotten really tired of having to carry my dress around so that it didn't didn't drag in the mud.

A friend of mine got married the weekend before us and she changed when she had about an hour left of her reception as well.  But, I've been to plenty of weddings where the bride stays in her gown until everyone has left and then she changes before heading to the hotel.
