Question:

Can a built in oven be installed through a wall rather than a cabinet.?

We are buying a "built in" oven and my plan at the moment is to have it installed through an actual brick wall rather than in a kitchen cabinet. The kitchen is on one side of the wall and garage is on the other side so the back of the oven will be in the garage.

Is this possible?

Does anyone else out there have an oven in a wall?

If not, please let me know as I will have to change my kitchen layout.

If it is possible, what are your recommendations for fitting the oven securely in the wall and for ventilation issues?

Will we need ventilation under and above the oven into the kitchen from the garage?

Hopefully not as this would allow cold draughts through from the garage and I would again have to rethink our kitchen layout.

Will I need to get a specialist to install it or will my electrician/builder know what to do?

The wall is probably about 15mm thick I assume our builders will put a wooden frame in the hole.

Thanks for your time

  1. Venting is usually done through the door and oven control panel the oven never vents inside the cabinet. as far as securing the oven attaching some 2 or 3 inch tapcon screws where the oven would normally s***w into the cabinet s***w into the wall should secure it. the supports are really important when you open the door and slide out food on the racks.
