Can a camera get a virus?

i think mine got a virus cuz i cant connect it wid my pc anymore. whenever i plug it in the usb port it jus shuts it down. what could possibly be wrong? its a sanyo VPC-S600 btw.

  1. Your camera won't display virus symptoms even if it was infected, but it is *possible* (though highly unlikely) that the camera is infected and is a carrier... however, if the camera is infected or  the memory card you are using was infected, it *could* pass a virus to your computer.

    Just in case anyone wants to dispute that non-computers cannot carry a virus...

    This particular camera has 16 meg of built-in memory, and programmed firmware, so it is possible.

    HOWEVER, I do not believe this is what you are experiencing. The easiest way around your issue is just to use a card reader... take the memory card out of the camera, insert it into the card reader and copy the files you want...

    no, a camera can't get a virus, and just because something doesn't work properly everyone automatically goes, 'OH NO OH NO!! IT'S A VIRUS, I'VE GOT A VIRUS'

    Anyways, try a troubleshooter or try uninstalling and re-installing the camera's software...
