You can use a current regulator on a capacitor and then it will discharge a steady current until all the power is gone.  How long will depend on the size of the capacitor and the amount of current needed.

a capacitor is like a storage battery. it holds a charge till needed, then fills up again. I would assume it has to charge then discharge to complete its circuit.

Just like a battery but with sudden discharge of electrons.
