Can a car be repossed if i cross from Mexico to the U.S.?

My Sister got a car in the U.S. but since she moved to Mexico she figuered she could get away with not making the payments. Now I told her I would take over the payments but I dont want to bring the car across the border and have them take away the car.

You would need to negotiate with the financial institution that has the lein on the vehicle.  They want the money, not the car.

So they may be willing to make payment arrangements with you.

Otherwise, they would have the right to reposess it.

They can come and get it. It's stolen property if she doesn't make the payments.
