Question:

Can a catholic church do a promise ring ceremony?

I would like to do something special for my girlfriend...this promise ring means a lot to us....so I was wondering if Churches provides that type of services....something very casual....just 2 of us and the pasteur....very quick...just exchange of rings. Thanks.

  1. Probably not. Why should the church bless a non-commitment. After all with a promise ring  you could still break up any second of any day. With a marriage -- it seems that way but there is a lot more to ending a marriage than a relationship. Wait until you get married to get a priest involved.

  3. i would think that if you sat down with him/her they would be willing to help you out.

  4. A priest can bless your rings, if he chooses, but since a promise ring is meaningless to the Church, you aren't likely to get any kind of ceremony.  An agreement to marry (i.e. engagement) does have meaning in the church, but a promise to be engaged?  Pointless.

  5. yes basically catholic can do everything usually is other religions that don't do nothing like Christians you know so yea go 4r it that will be so sweet good luck

  6. I know a couple who did something like this. The fellow had the engagement ring blessed by the priest just before he proposed. He proposed with the priest present, and then the priest blessed the couple.
