Can a caution stop me from getting my citizenship?

    We all make silly errors...

    As long as it is not a crime then you will be fine..


  4. Normally only a conviction will affect citizenship application, but depends what the caution was for and when you received it.

  5. Just been checking what it says on the BIA website and I quote...

    "What does 'of good character' mean?

    There is no definition of good character in nationality law, but we would normally accept that the requirement is met if:

    - our enquiries with the police and other government departments reveal no cause for concern;

    - there are no unspent convictions;

    - there is no other information to cast doubt on the applicant's character."

    Hence it may well be that your caution shows up when the search is done and the risk for you is that the caution is considered a cause for concern. Hence it probably depends on what the caution was for.
