  1. They could, but they most likely won't.

My opinion, if this a delinquent debt of more than 6 months old  I would call them up and offer them 100 bucks as payment in full.

This will not be a  popular answer but this is business. It is not worth the money to hire a lawyer to take you to court for 627 dollars.

But they will threaten you with all sorts tactics. But at the end of the day this is business. No self respecting company would spend 5000 dollars to collect 1000 dollars.

    So here are some choices:

1- settle for a much lower amount. Make sure to get this in writing.

2- get on a payment that you can afford if you feel generous.

3- if you are having trouble putting food on the table, forget about it in my opinion. Research credit card dispute letters on google. Send them some letters in writing. This alone will probably get them off your back.

This is only my opinion. Make up your own mind.

  2. They can, but they won't. How about you just pay your bills?

  3. Yes.  Go to the court hearing, or try to settle with the company.

  4. They could but are not likely to. What will happen is that as time goes on, charges and interest will accrue and the balance will likely end up being into the thousands. They will record this on your credit record and eventually sell it to a collection agency who will make your life miserable.

Depending on how late you already are, they may be willing to negotiate but that would probably take at least six months. Assuming you owe them this money, your best bet is to call them, set up a payment plan or if you can borrow the money elsewhere, see if they'll settle. Whatever you do GET IT IN WRITING FIRST. Also, DO NOT ALLOW THEM ACCESS TO A BANK ACCOUNT under any circumstance. Sorry for the lack of subtlety, but people get suckered by unscrupulous credit card reps all the time.

  5. Of course they can.  You owe them money, right?  You need to pay them.

Call and try to set up a payment plan.

  6. Yes, they can take you to court and sue you for the $627.00 and the court costs.  The best thing for you to do is to pay the $627.00 as soon as possible.  If you can't pay the whole amount, call them and set up a payment plan and stick to it.  Pay them off faster if you can.
