Can a cell phone store keep copies of my driver license and credit card, even after I canceled?

I want to know if its legal for them to keep the records even after I canceled and requested the copies back. They refused, saying it's their policy to keep customer files on records.

I am pretty sure they can do that. Check your cell phone contract and there is probably something in it about them being able to keep copies of information about you on file.

Also keep in mind that their company policy is probably vetted by high-priced attorneys who know the law.

And besides, even if it was blatantly illegal, it would cost you thousands of dollars to sue them to recover the documents.
