  1. My neice is combined type ADHD (impulsivity and hyperactivity) and bi-polar and Asperger's (oh yeah she's SO much fun when she's having a fit!)  and SHE can't get SSDI and she's 7 in kindergarten, doesn't know her letters, can't read, and can't write her name.  So to answer the question--not likely to get it easily!

  2. Rarely-

    The criteria are

    1. Marked impairment in age-appropriate cognitive/communication function.

    2. Marked impairment in age-appropriate social functioning.

    3. Marked impairment in age-appropriate personal functioning.

Most children with ADHD and/or dysthmic disorder (mild depression) do NOT meet this requirement

Also, the child must be treatment compliant and still have 'marked' impairment-

if you know families getting SSI that don't have 'marked' impairment'-they are committing fraud

I am more significantly disabled than most kids with ADHD/depression and I do not get SSI
