Can a clutch slave cylinder in a honda del sol fail while car is parked?

I just recently bought a 1994 Honda Del Sol and the car ran fine. The clutch didn't feel soft or weird at all when I pressed it down and I had it parked in my driveway for 3 days. All of a sudden when I went to use it, the clutch was all the way down and when I started the car fluid was leaking out through the clutch slave cylinder. During the 3 days the car was parked, I had a mechanic test the compression of the engine. Could he had done something to make the clutch slave cylinder leak, or was it just ready to go out even though i haven't driven it for 3 days?

  1. A slave cylinder can fail at any time,it is built just like a wheel cylinder on the brake system, you can look at it to see how long it has been leaking..I bet it shows some sort of dark/blackish fluid around it.I have also noticed it last a whole lot longer if you gravity bleed it while pouring in clean fluid, just don't let it run out completely while draining/refilling.

  2. they just go out, i doubt that the mechanic did any thing to it, sabotaging it would be difficult to hide. the car is a 94, it is just time to replace the clutch master cylinder, it would not be a bad idea to replace the slave cylinder at the same time. i had to replace them both years ago on one of my cars within a week of each other. it just is easier to have it done and relax about it.
