Ok well my volleyball coach said that i have to wear my glasses during games instead of contacts. The only reason i got contacts was for volleyball & i got the disposable ones so i'd just have them for volleyball.sweat does get into them at times but i think it should be my choice whether or not i wear contacts or risk breaking a pair of $190 frames that i absolutely love.

my coach said that i played differently & that my reactions were late or something maybe they were but it may not have the contacts that caused that.

has anyone had this experience with your contacts while playing volleyball?

& should my coach really have a say in this or not?

  1. i was planning on getting contacts just for volleyball as well. i don't know if this happens with you, but when i play with my glasses my peripheral vision is completely gone and i also have problems with glare. Anyway, if you dont want to risk breaking your glasses just practice with the contacts a lot so you can get used to playing in them. unless your coach is willing to insure your glasses, he/she shouldn't have a say in this.

  2. wearing glasses is way worse

when you jump they fly up, glare, foggy, ect

your coach doesnt have much say in that

are you in hs or college?

    dont wear your glasses!

i wear contacts and am fine!

  3. no...wear wat u wanna wear!he/she kant tell u wat 2 do geez

  4. Sounds like your coach isn't very good....wearing glasses are dangerous on a court.....your game play might be affected more cause your prescription might be off but to tell you to wear glasses that's just wrong.

try wearing the contacts more often to see how you feel maybe you havent adjusted to them yet...also check with your eye doctor and see if the script is correct.

  5. You have two choices.  You can wear your contacts on the bench or wear your glasses on the court.  The coach does have the final say.  If you do not want to do what the coach tells you to do, you will probably be on the bench.

Try to talk with the coach before or after practice.  POLITELY ask about the decision.  If you get confrontational in any way, you will never see the court again during a match.

You should check into goggles if the coach insists on glasses.

  6. Your coach can't actually force you to wear your glasses, however, he can bench you.

I would talk calmy to your coach, explain to him everything you explained to us (you love your glasses, afraid of breaking them, cost, why yyou got  contacts, etc). Make sure you listen to him, too.

    ~Hope this helps!

  7. NOPE!!! Alot of my friends ware them through a game with out any problems!

  8. Your coach (or at least all I ever played for) has the final say on at least two things.  First is safety.  I don't see how he could tie vision augmentation to safety but if he can, you are stuck with it.  If I were the coach I would insist you have shatter proof goggles.  Second he says who plays and who warms the bench.  So if you want to play you are stuck.  I would suggest a set of goggles with prescription lenses.  I have seen professional sport figures wear them.  It really does make sense.  It protects your eyes and that is so very important.
