  1. Yes.  Any creditor can garnish your wages for unpaid debt.  But first they have to get a judgement from the courts.

  2. Technically no they can not, but what they can do is take you to court and get a judgment and unless you live in a State that forbids garnishment, the court can order it.

They can also attach bank accounts and file liens on any other property you may own like cars, boats, land and homes.

  3. No, a collection company cannot garnishee your wages for any type of debt.

The only way your wages could be garnisheed by anyone is by a court order signed by a judge.

Then, only a certain percentage of your wages can be garnisheed.

Depending on the state or county, wage garnisheeing must be requested in court for each instance.

  4. Yes they can garnish your wages. Check your states satue of limitations for collecting a debt. If a debt collector tellsyou that if you do not pay them they will garnish your wages it is illegal. It is considered extortion because they cannot predict how a judge would rule in your case. If you are going to pay a collection mke sure to get a letter of deletion upfront and always settle for a lesser amount. FYI collection companies buy your debt from anywhere between 10-30 cents on the dollar. So start low when trying to settle.
