The real question is deduct from what?  Some schools offer students stipends which cover daily living expenses such as this.  Other students opt to cover daily living expenses through taking out private loans or through allocating money from their Federal Direct Loans to cover the costs incurred by travel and food expenses.  See http://www.scholloans.com/ for more information on this and many other financial aid money questions
