if you turn in a timecard late due to bad weather-in which the office you work for actually closed and their office closed, can they still hold you pay until the next period

  1. Are you asking if someone can refuse to pay you for goods or services rendered? I am sure that it happens in some cases. Perhaps your absence caused the company to loose money. They could claim that you broke or stole something. Any of these situations could result in your employer withholding your check. I don't know your circumstances or the law but you may be out of luck. How much is the check for? Are they willing to go to court and can you affoard to?


  2. If you worked then they must pay you, but when depends on the laws of the state. Check with the department of labor in your state.

  4. If you owe them money they do it. By law they cannot do it unless they show proof that you owe them. You can call the board of wages on them for it. It is illegal.
