I applied for the job but told them I had eight points and the company policy dictates a max of two points was I being too honest or would it have turned against me?

  1. If its driving most insurance companies ask for a copy of your licence so lying wouldn't have got you any further.. honesty is best.

  2. You have to be honest because you can be fired for lying and you need to learn how to spell and punctuation.

  3. They would have found out anyway. Better to tell them up front than to lie to them and get fired when they do find out.

Losing a job for lying looks much worse than losing one for points on license.

  4. Did the job involve driving?

If so then they're insurance probably stipulates that staff are limited to a certain amount of driving points, not much you can do about it really but try elsewhere...............good luck.

  5. Yeah, they would've pulled your report!?!

No, they have no way of finding out, but employers are obliged to actually check both parts of your licence regularly; better to be honest now than have them look at your licence in three months' time & get found out & possibly prosecuted, but certainly sacked with no chance of a reference.

  6. They would have pulled your motor vehicle report anyway.

And - if you had lied and actually gotten the job - if they pulled your mvr later and found the points - they would have fired you for lying. Now your out of a job and you have to try and explain to future employers why you got fired.

You did the right thing by telling the truth.

  7. The last place I worked (before becoming self-employed) took a photocopy of everyone's driving licence.

Tell the truth, otherwise you'll be caught and fired sooner or later, or have an accident in a company vehicle and then not be insured and you'll be personally liable for the damage, injuries, etc.

  8. You weren't being too honest. If your job involved driving they would have examined your licence and found out anyway.  Then you'd have been sacked for lying on your application.

Sorry about the job, but full points for your honesty.
