Can a cosigner lower your deposit ?

I have a credit score of 473 and got approved for an apartment but i have to pay a month and a half for a deposit . If i get a cosigner would that lower the deposit or it would remain the same ?

  1. Probably not. Your deposit not only is held for rent not paid, it is held for any damages you might cause. A co-signer can be held responsible for unpaid rent, but not for any damages that happen.


  2. It might for some landlords, but not for me.

  3. I've never heard of a co-signer changing the amount of a security deposit.

  4. Pay what you need to, dont involve a cosigner.  You need to be responsible for your own finances, dont involve others.  The ones that will deny being a co-signer for you are being smart and will feel guilty a bit but get over it...... the ones that might end up co-signing for you, will let the guilt of not helping you make their decision, and will resent the decision and you later in life if you happen to make any financial discresions.  

    Never be in the position to have someone else be responsible for anything that concerns you financially as an adult.
