Can a crack in a subwoofer ruin the amp?

ive heard someone say that if there is a crack in the sub, then it could somehow do damage to the amp.. is this true?

  1. No, it won't ruin the amplifier.  Why not keep running it?  It'll sound like poo but it'll die a cool death.  The only way it could MAYBE damage the amplifier is if somehow the speaker produced its own current and backfed the amplifier...  1 in a billion chance!


  2. it'll ruin the sub, that's for sure.  It's doubtful that it'll ruin the amp though.  Still, I wouldn't play a cracked sub.
