I recently had a creditor call my job asking to speak to a supervisor. When I asked why he gave an excuse of wanting to ensure a message was passed along. I told him to not do that again . Is there anything legally I can do ?

  1. That is an illegal practise and you can file a claim against him in court and win. Creditors are not allowed to bother you at work.

  2. No. That is an illegal pratice and you should report them. Many creditors do that tacky business pratice to embarass you but tell them to never call you at work again. You can

    Good luck

  3. You can sue for breach of privacy if he identified himself to the supervisor as a creditor or collector. But if he only left a message like, "John Smith called. Please call him at 800-555-9999. It's important." you can't sue. He can even say the company or store name, as long as it's not the name of a collections agency and as long as he doesn't say it's in relation to a debt or bill. For all your supervisor knows, it could be about an order you made.

You can demand that he not call the supervisor and/or you at work again. If he does, then you can sue for harassment.
