  1. generally, it is handled by that nation. however, it is quite common for the UK to send officers to help if the crime is serious enough i.e. madeline mccann, alexander litvinenko, these murders in the Caribbean etc.

however, quite often you will face charges even when you return to the UK from that country i.e. smuggling etc.

  2. There is a legal term called "venue". It requires a crime be tried in the same jurisdiction it occurs. There are some exceptions, but they are rare, and must be justified.

  3. Yes..it depends on the crime, and where it was committed.

But they can be extradited back to the UK for sentencing & to do prison time.

  4. Offences are dealt with in the country they were committed.

War crimes and paedophilia are exceptions

  5. It all depends on the offence for eg:

murder/manslaughter can be dealt with in the UK if a british citizen commits it anywhere in the world. Sec 9 offences against the person act 1861.

One of the more recent ones is controlling child pornography, photography or prostitution any where in the world by a british citizen. For this one the suspect doesn't even have to leave the UK but we must prove they are committing the offence elsewhere.

    There are lots of others.

  6. no they can only be arrested in the uk
