Can a debit card just have initials of a person's name?

Hello i wanted to open up a bank account but instead of my debit card having my full name on it, i just wanted it to have my initials on it, do you know if the bank will let me do so? Obviously when i go to open it, i will present my full details such as driving license and documents but i want my card to only have my initials, will the bank let me?

Your account name will be your full name but on your debit card it will say E P JONES  your intials and your surname

They've actually said that you can do this??  That doesn't sound right to me that you can have one without your surname on.  First and middle names can be initials, and title can be left off too, but I'll be very surprised if you get one with just an initial instead of your surname

you can ususally have the name on your card any way you want it, some of my cards have my initial and surname and others have my whole name spelt out, however I'm not convinced the person at the bank gave you the correct information in regards to having just the initial of you surname!
