Question:

Can a declawed cat still enjoy a Kitty condo?

Okay doke, I declawed my cat due to house rules and I'm wondering how to keep her from being bored now that we've moved out. Not only in the new apartment is she without another cat but she has a smaller area to run free.

I'm considering getting another cat but my question is if I buy her a kitty condo, will she still enjoy it, even if she is declawed? I really just want a place for her to sit up high and hide away in but I was told it might be pointless with her having no claws.

  1. try getting the cat some of those catnip filled fluffy toy balls, the cat can just move the ball around with her paws...no claws needed !

my cats love them, theres a bunch at petco/petsmart.

  2. Of course she can! 4 year old kitty came to my family declawed and she is still perfectly capable or landing on her feet! A nice place to play and hide! Even though my cat is declawed she still likes rubbing her paws on the texture of a carpet and she can still catch mice and she loves kitty condos! If you are thinking about getting another kitty, try finding one that is already declawed! Alrighty I hope this helped and have a great day!

  3. Well you have had the ends of her fingers chopped off so a cat tree is useless. She can't climb or leap and land. She can't get that high anyways, if she slips and falls she can't catch herself. Sorry that you decided to mutilate your animal that way because of "house rules". Sorry for the cat. Why didn't you try soft paws or something? Declawing is barbaric and should be outlawed here in the US as it is outlawed almost everywhere else in the civilized world.

So yeah.. pretty pointless getting her a cat tree since she can't enjoy it.. oh and by the way, she will likely turn into a biter now and develop litter box problems as well. I know- I have a rescue cat that was done before I got her. I also take care of 125 cats at the shelter- ALL of the declawed cats are biters.

if you do get another cat then there might be fights. but there can be fights whether one is declawed or not. Try getting an older cat from a shelter, even one that is already declawed, that way it would be an even playing field. The ones that are declawed are always hard to place though as many will not tolerate another animal or children. Have a look on petfinder.com and see all of the listings for declawed cats, many will also have a logo next to them that states, no other cats, no dogs, no children.

and cats do not always land on their feet. many cats die even from manageable heights because they landed wrong.

  4. Declawing a cat..the worst thing ever. I would never get a cat if i had to declaw it. I suggest u dont get one. no fun for the cat

  5. You should never have gotten a cat if you intended to declaw it and you should not consider getting another one. You could have moved.

  6. I think your cat would love to have a kitty condo.  She would probably love to have a place of her own.

I read the other answers...don't worry, cats always land on their feet whether they have claws or not.

Another thing...if you are worried about your cat not having a place to run free, I don't think getting another cat would solve that problem.  But getting your cat the condo might help!

    Good luck!!  :)

  7. It's pointless. I'll spare you the lecture because at least you've come to your senses now but what you did was incredibly stupid and pleading ignorance won't change that. House rules? Should have gotten a new house.
