I'd love to have an RV, but I would not love to spend or expend the the money, energy, and waste involved in operating either gas or diesel RV. Also, if we could do this we could save a fortune and a ton of gas every year--my husband must commute 160 miles every day. Is a veg oil CAR safe and reliable for long commutes daily, or an RV for long trips? Is it really aprox U.S. $1,000.00 to convert from Diesel?

  1. Several different questions here. Is hubby intending to commute in the R.V?  I think not.   Maybe U could find an ancient v.w. TDI Rabbit or pickup truck. The main problem is  --- where do U find the veg oil?  No way!   Where can U find a reliable supply of Veg. oil?

I had a 82 Chev, Diesel, full sized pick up from  1984 until 2002.  It never used more than 24 M/P/G.  Unusual truck, Silverado. Got me through the first gasoline/shortage/high price times.

Lasted me years and years but the injection pump went out once and I lost the cyl heads once. Those prices knocked down the benefit of the fuel mileage savings!  might as well grive a little gasoline car?

  2. Diesel engines were originally designed to run on peanut oil. Conversion consists mostly of filtration technology. Of course it's safe and reliable.
