Our boxer is 10 months and ran off for 2 days when we took her out of town. We haven't gotten her fixed yet (but plan to real soon) and I heard that if they haven't gone into heat for the first time they can't get pregnant. Is that true?

  1. yes that is true, no heat, no pregnancy.

  2. Yes. Unlike a human girl getting pregnant without having hard her first period, dogs have to be in heat to get pregnant.  And soon better be REAL soon, don't wait for her first heat, and why she hasn't been fixed already..*shrugs*

If money is the issue find a low cost spay/neuter clinic and take advantage of it before yo get a nasty shock if she runs off again.

  3. No. They can only get pregnant while they are in heat.

  4. Nope, I don't think so.

  5. If there is a male dog, he can get a female dog pregnant regardless of the heat, so yes.

  6. no...its impossible ....it has to go into heat

  7. nope i think not

  8. No, a dog will not ovulate if she is not in heat, so she must be in heat in order to become pregnant.  HOWEVER, some females go into a "silent" heat, where there are very few or very subtle symptoms that an owner can not pick up on.  If a dog is in a silent heat then she can still get pregnant.

  9. She can't get pregnant without going into heat.

But sometimes the owner doesn't know that the dog is in heat.
