  1. Yeah it can mean you are at higher risk of having a pulmonary embolus.  


  2. Dangerous, positive for Pulmonary embolism, ring up your doctor and take his advise immediately.

  3. The reason that they checked this was to rule out if there was a clot in the lungs (a pulmonary embolism)

    D-dimer is an odd test, as it's not diagnostic but does indicate someone is at increased risk of a clot.  However, people with elevated d-dimers can sometimes not have a clot, so it's tough to work with.  That bbeing said with chest pain (which can be a symptom of PE), and a positive d-dimer, it made your likelihood of having a clot higher than most.
