  1. Generally no. There are those states that are right to work, where you can be dismissed for tying your shoes wrong. I'm on the other end of the spectrum. I'm over 50 and considered unhireable because I'm so close to 65. NO one will say that outright because it's illegal. They will tell me, I'm over qualified!

  2. If you live in Florida, they can fire for any reason and not even tell you.  It's a right to work state.

  3. I see nothing wrong with that unless you are being serious. If so, that is against the law. McCain is, however, the weaker Candidate!

  4. In most cases your employer can fire you for any reason or no reason at all.

  5. In some states they can fire you without reason.  In other states they can't, but they could say they fired you for some other reason when it was really because of yoru political ideas.  If you work for the federal government you can't go around at work wearign a huge (in your case) John McCain for president button.

Bottom line is at work, NEVER talk politics.  I've got a degree in Poly sci and it kills me when I hear people spew ignorance and lies about a candidate regardless of if I support them or not or if they are running for president or city councel.  Its like an English teacher hearing bad grammer all day and yes I rarely go a day without hearing something that peeves me in this election cycle.  I know however that discussing politics at work or with people who aren't close friends is a major recipie for disaster.  Vote for whoever you want, work the phone banks, go door to door, but don't go around the office talking about the virtues of a candidate.

  6. Yes, if you work for barack obama

  7. If you live in a right to work state like Florida or Texas and others you can be fired for any reason.  On the flip side you can quit for any reason too without recourse.  Also, in right to work states you cannot be compelled to join a union or pay union dues if you are not a union member (check-off) as in some states.
