Can a family plan swap phones & phone numbers?

Ok my mom had an old phone that just broke. So she bought a new one, but i have an iphone. And me & her wanna swith phones cause i hate my phone but we dont know how to switch them & switch the numbers too.....How do i do this?

It sounds like you're on AT&T, which is a GSM carrier. You should be able to swap the SIM (subscriber identification module) cards between the devices. The SIM card holds information, such as your phone number, so moving this card will move the phone number.

While the iPhone's SIM card can be put into another phone, another phone's SIM card cannot be used with the iPhone.

To put the iPhone's SIM, take a paperclip and insert into the hole at the top.

Now take the SIM card out.

Go to the other phone, take out the back cover, then remove the SIM (might be under the battery) and replace with the iPhone's SIM.

The only way to make another SIM work with the iPhone is to unlock the iPhone (voiding your warranty).
