  1. A father can sue to terminate his rights, but the court does not have to agree and will refuse to terminate if it is not in the best interests of the child.

  2. Yes, he can sign away his rights.

He cannot, however, sign away his obligations.

He can voluntarily choose to surrender his parental rights. He will then no longer have the right to seek custody, or visitation, or to have a say in the childs upbringing. He will still be liable, though, for child support just as he was before.

He can only get away from those if another man steps into his position and chooses to assume those obligations.

  3. risk is generally correct

he can sign away his rights but not obligations

so he is on the hook for child support unless the woman releases him from that obligation

If he paying child support he can then at any time seek visitation again

My advice is if he is creepy let him go and don't ask him for anything - then move far away and hope you never see him again

  4. Your in Texas? No worries.

Texas wants its cut of Child support, Greg Abbott is the attorney general there, and he is the most self-righteous chest beating ******** i've ever had the distaste of reading about.

They take support from men proven not to be the father, you'll have no problem.

Note i'm not saying you shouldn't seek CS, or that your greedy for doing so, he needs to support his kid.

  5. yes he can, but you have to agree to it as well. Even if he was to sign his rights away, you can still have him pay child support for the next 18 yrs. There's a lot of ways you can go with this. If you can afford an attorney, I would talk to one.

  6. yes h can sign his rights away but not his financial obligations to that child! if he wants to run and not take care of what he laid down with you to make ..heck yea make him pay! that baby will need it! all the dead beat dads shouldnt get off sooo easy! AND THAT PAMD HAS PROBLEMS..STOP WASTING YOUR TIME ON HERE!

  7. why loose sleep over it , he oviously isn,t worthty of being envolved in your childs life ,if he wants to sign his rights away.  unless your only concerned about child support. in which case you shoudn,t have kids you can,t support on your own . I mean what would you do if he got killed in a car wreck?

  8. I think you would have to agree to it. Check with your local Legal Aid office if you can't afford an attorney. You need legal advice from a professional.

If he reliquishes all rights, you don't have to give him visitation or any contact with the child whatsoever. But he also won't have to pay you child support.

If he's that big of a creep, he probably isn't going to be around much anyway. Make him pay. You are going to need it if you are a single mother.
