Can a female hear better then a male?

I was just wondering because sometimes when i have the T.V. volume adjusted for me a female i live with says it's to loud

its not that we girls have better hearing its that we can control it better like when my friends will turn it up ill say its to loud when its only at 20 or something

I seriously doubt it. I'm no expert, but it's probably just personal preference. Or it could be that your hearing as an individual is bad.

No, it can be situational. Like if you put a music that is annoying, you will more likely hear it than a person who thinks it is a wonderful music.

So it is about the perception a lot of times.

It has nothing to do with gender; each person- male or female- may have better hearing than another. If it was anything extreme, I'd advise going to the doctor to have your hearing checked, but a little difference is no biggie. :)
