Her pupils dilated in front of me immediately after the fall, but went back to normal within 10 minutes. She also has a hard bump that feels like the top of an egg on the back of her head.

  1. Look to see if pupils are the relatively the same size and see if they respond to light (expand when less light and then shrink when more light). If the pupils don't respond or one pupil is huge and doesn't respond that is a sign of a brain injury. Also feel the skull for holes in the skull. If there is a soft spot the skull is fractured. Yes a fever can be a sign of a concussion. But usually it requires a lot of brain damage so the brain can't control the bodies temperature. Most websites don't even seem to bother mentioning it though. I think it would require a lot of brain damage that you would be appararent like not walking, eyes funny, etc...

  2. Not typically. The signs of a concussion are: Blurred vision, headache, nausea, vomiting, memory loss, sleepiness and in rare occasion convulsions. Check the pupils, if they are uneven or dilated, there could be a concussion. A fever most likely means something else, like infection or illness.

  3. Bravo for you! Your child hits their head has dilated pupils as a lump on her head yet you stood your ground and hopped right on here to ask us our expert advice. Even if we were all DR's, we could not make a medical diagnosis without seeing your child. She should have been taken to an ER or urgent care center. My son fell and hit his head I immediately called an ambulance when they got there he was fine and he didn't need to go but at least I had piece of mind.

  4. I have not heard of it... more like vomitingand fatigued...however get your child checked as he may have been sick and due to fever lost balance and fallen over giving themselves concussion,
