Question:

Can a fiberglas skimboard be used for flat-land or inland skimming?

I know that wood skimboards are perfered for inland skimming, but to finally get a answer for a arguement me and a friend are having...can you use a fiberglass board for wave skimming and also for inland skimming and will be able to do all manuvers i could do on a wood board

  1. You can use a fiberglass board for anything. They go over waves and glide more. The problem with a wood board is that it isn't hollow and will sink right through a wave. Fiberglass boards are just way more efficient all around. They also don't get dinged up or delaminated as fast

    (a.k.a. basically just messed up). Anyway, I don't know what you and your friend are arguing about, but whoever's side is the fiberglass side, they're right...Hope I helped!!


  2. The fibreglass skimboards will perform better than the wooden ones in all conditions due to the weight and flotation of them . The core is usually a PVC one which , when vacuumed with an epoxy or resin and glass layup , result in a high performance and strong product . You will find that the board cuts through the water better and this will definetly help with you manuevers .
