Can a grade 3 child actually see blurry if her teacher tells her that she does?

My daughter went to the optometrist today and he said that she was very inconsistent and seemed to be lying. He said that out of 30 years, he has only seen this 5 times. My daughter seems confident and happy. She has had 2 major life changes lately (a new baby and a long distance move away from friends and family).

I don't think that she was lying because once she got it in her head that the teacher and other kids thought she saw double, suddenly she couldn't read signs beside the road and her hand was blurry in front of her face. She believed this and I am certain that she was not lying to the eye doctor as she does not have a pattern of lying at all.

She has a dramatic flare and does get carried away in the sway of things. Is this normal for a 8 year old girl?

  1. lol yeah

when I was her age I wanted glasses

and I convinced my mom to take me to the eye doc.

but I ended up seriously needing glasses.

    go to another place,

    just to be safe

    good luck!

  2. An 8 year old this may and may not be normal:

    1. Of genetics (Ask history of your family and your husbands)

It can be serious because i have seen many different           cases in discovery channel and you know that channel never lies

    2. She might just want attention (is she the only child)

    3. They always say "drunk people and little kids always say the truth"

BUT IF YOU REALLY CARE ABOUT YOUR CHILD

I   WOULDN'T CARE WHAT PEOPLE WOULD SAY I WOULD GO TO THE HOSPITAL BEFORE IT WORSENS DON'T YOU WANT THE BEST FOR YOUR CHILD? (i'm sayin this in the nicest caring way)

  3. well my little sister is 5 yrs old and her school nurse said that she has an astigmatism (not perfect eyesight) so we had to get glasses for her. honestly she just sees a little blurry but i never thoguht she needed them...10 points please!!!!

  4. in a recent study, people were forced (don't ask how) to believe that they were being burned alive.

crazily enough, their skin erupted in hot boils and scalds.

so yes, if your daughter believed that she saw blurry enuogh, then yes, it is possible.

  5. Your daughter is fine... I am 42 and have been wearing glasses since I was 7. To this day it is sometime hard for me to deterimine which lens is clearer then the last especially when they swap and change them so quickly. My eyes need time to adjust to each change in the lens. so i suggest taking her to another optometrist and asking them to go slower with the examination.

  6. she may have made herself believe it or she just wants attention.

  7. possibly she is after attention or maybe something else is going on. Sit down, tell her how important eye tests are and the truth must be told at all times. Take her back and get her tested again. If still inconsistant them maybe contact a nueroligist for further testing
