My friend has worked for a company for 6 months. He was promised health ins. after 90 days. He keeps asking for his insurance and finally they gave him a paper with a acct number on it and said, no pre-existing conditions for 180 days (another 6 months) and the ins. co wants a drug test in 30 days or you dont get the insurance. Is this legal or pulling his leg?

  2. it's up to the insurence co. what the policies are and if that is what they want than that is what is you can find another co. by going online to einsurence and look there for things that might not need that.I know that it worked for me

  3. Of course that is legal.  You think an insurance company is going to cover someone who uses illegal drugs and not charge a fortune for the coverage?

  4. It is legitimate.  The company or the insurance carrier or both can demand a drug screen as a condition of  coverage or employment.
