  1. I don't think so, unless the dearly departed is sitting in the passenger seat.  The casket (and contents) are really cargo, i.e. a shipment being moved to a destination.

    Live well and do good.

  2. No.  There was an instance of this a while ago.  A policeman pulled a driver over for driving in a carpool lane without another passenger, but the man said he was driving a hearse and had a corpse in the back.  The driver was still ticketed, and he took the case to court.  Of course he lost and had to pay the fine.

  3. No, I don't think they're allowed

  4. Only if they sit the body upright in the passenger seat. LOL

    (Good question!)

  5. Ha...Probably

  6. of course not.

no comma is needed by the way

  7. Carpool is 2 or more Licensed drivers (certain carpool lanes are 3, must be valid licenses).  Thats why people with their children in the car will get ticketed as well.  since a corpse isnt a person under the law, and you have to be a person to have a valid license, no you cant drive in the carpool lane.

Edit:  The whole point is to keep cars off the road.  Thats why it has to be licensed drivers.  Your corpse is going to be escorted regardless.

  8. lol, good question.

I wouldn't think so, the point of a car pool lane is for living people to be saving gas by car pooling... But I don't think it actually specifies in the law about people having to be alive...

  9. No

did you know someone else ask this exact same question about 2 days ago

  10. To reiterate what's been said above:

No, you cannot drive a hearse in the carpool lane....unless you have a live passenger. A corpse is not a passenger. It's cargo.
