  1. Many kids take varying SAT tests to see how they're doing.

  2. Anyone can take the exam.  There are books that advise on how to prepare for the SAT, and also show questions from previous exams.  You can use these as a reference to compare.

  3. For the other responders - ISAT is *Not* the SAT test.  It's the Illinois Standard Achievement Test.

Yes, you can have your child tested with the local public school.  It's most likely too late for this year.  Both the district we live in, and the district where my DD is bused, started testing yesterday, and will be testing all week long.

As a HS'ing parent you have other options for standardized testing.  You can go through Seton Testing w/ the CAT:

Or if one parent has a B.S. or B.A. degree, you can register as a test administrator for the ITBS through BJUP:

There's also a great place, that costs $20 per test, called Let's Go Learn:

Or, if your children qualify, you can go throught the talent search, MATS, through the Center for Talent Development at Northwestern University and have them take the EXPLORE test (from the ACT company):

I've personally done the ITBS through BJUP and my DS has taken the EXPLORE twice.

    HTH!
