I am a 15 year old that is going to be homeschooled but want to play baseball and Track/Field for a highschool. Is it legal for that to happen if I live in the district of that school? I am still homeschooled, but can I play sports for a high school team. That is my basic question.

  1. you would have to talk to the home school program and the sports program but im willing to say its highly unlikely

your home schooling program might offer it tho

  2. Yes, you can in some cases.  It really depends your districts rules...Tim Tebow the current Florida Gators quarterback was home schooled but still played for his local high school team.

  3. no you must be enrolled in the school to participate in the sport

  4. no but you can play for a nieghborhood team if your 'hood has it

  5. Yes it is. I played for Karns city High school.football. and i'm home schooled

  6. no, I think you have to be a member of the school to play on their athletic teams. sorry :[

  7. you know, I think you can, or even on a summer league.  Just check with the school and see what they say.

    Best of Luck!

  8. you should be able to.

  9. yes

  10. nope

  11. I have a 16 year-old-homeschooler son who wanted to play on the local public high school golf team. I called the CIF commissioner who advised it can be done as long as the school superintendent agrees. It just involved some paperwork on the school's part.

I met with the high school superintendent. He refused to allow a student to play on any of his athletic teams unless the student was enrolled in his school. So it is possible if you have a willing high school superintendent or principal. I've heard of one home schooler who did this successfully because she approached a high school whose leader had an open mind. Contact the school and explain your position. Hopefully, the school head is intelligent enough to realize that he'd be doing both you and the school a service. Good luck to you!

  12. No. You have to go to a High School to be involved in any high school sports that has to do with a high school team

  13. no

  14. depends on the school, i'm homeschooled, 14, and i've played on high school teams before

  15. technically...no but never give up hope!

  16. It may depend on where you live.  In our area homeschooled children have the right to play on any athletic team in the public school system.  They can even choose to go to school for just one particular subject. (Example: You want to learn physics, but your parent can not not teach it to you, you could go to the public school just for the physics class.)

I would check with your county board of education and you should get accurate information there.

  17. wellllll..

    i think you can

    if you're good

go talk to the principal and the coaches.

  18. Check with the school.  I know the schools around here in Oregon have provisions for allowing home schoolers to play on sports teams.
