When i ask this question i want to know does anyone know of a race where a horse has run without a jockey from beginning to end.....meaning he had no jockey at any point in the race not even the starting gate and still ran and won? And also i do know they get DQ'ed without a jockey but i would like to view a race even with the DQ of a horse out running the other jockeys, and winning although the horse is disqualified.

  1. The race would not start unless a jockey was seated.

  2. A horse may reach the finish line w/o its jockey, but if it does, it's disqualified and the runner-up is certified as the winner. If a horse come out of the gate with a rider and finishes with a rider, it can still win, even though it may have lost its rider at some time during the race.

  3. The 4th or 5th race on June 22 at Lone Star Park had a horse throw the jockey prior to the race.  He broke through the gate and ran the course. The lead ponies could not catch him.  The crowd cheered as he crossed the finish line and shortly after, he was scratched. It was fun to watch. .

  4. Yes this has happened

A many of times They get loose when warning up

and dump the rider and run the race,, I have seen it with my own to eyes

I do not know where you can find it !

    sorry

    But yes it has happened

Try the Quarter horse racing racing office maybe they have those clips

  5. The gate crew aren't going to load a riderless horse into the gate.  If there's no jock, there's no horse.  Loose horses are dangerous and unpredictible... they're not just going to let one go out there for no reason.  I saw a horse lose its rider in a steeplechase after one of the fences.  The horse continued on, but when it got to the next fence, it didn't want to jump it, so it stopped and took a sharp turn to its right... right in front of another horse who was about to jump that fence.  It could have been disasterous.

There are a lot of times that horses stumble when leaving the gate and the jockey will fall off.  If possible, the outriders will run up and grab the horse... but if the horse has continued to run with the field, they have no choice but to let it go.

When that happens, yes some of those horses have gone on to win the race... of course they're DQed, but they finished in front.  The reason they're DQed is because every horse in the race has to carry a set amount of weight on their back.  If they toss the jockey, they're carrying 110 less pounds than they're supposed to.  That's a huge advantage!

There was one New York bred named Gander who dropped his rider at the start, then ran the race alone.  He weaved through the other horses on the backstretch, made the lead, then led the field all the way to the finishline.  He then galloped out another 1/8 before walking over to the outrider and leading him to the winners circle!  Gander thought he won!

  6. No, if a horse loses its jock then it is disqualified and cannot win the race. Most of the time when this happens the horse will veer off around the quarter pole. This happens every once in a while.

There have been rare occasions when I have seen horses without a jockey cross the line first. When I was younger I would think that they were the best horse in the race. However, running without the weight of the jockey on their backs really makes a difference.

  7. I'm no expert, but do spend a fair amount of time at the track.  I have never heard of this happening.

  8. A horse without a jockey should be able to win any day over a horse carrying 120 pounds!  Of course it should win!  That's a huge advantage.  You and a friend go race. one of you should wear a bookbag full of books.  the one without the bag should win easily.  Same with the horses.

No, there is no race where a horse raced without a jockey.

  9. no

however a horse did win in chicago years ago when the jocky died during the race and fell off after crossing the finish line

  10. nope! erm usually th disqualified horses take a wrong turn somewhere and dont go the wrong course i can remember one race on tv years ago was at newmarket and a loose horse beat the rest of the race by a neck but was obviously DQ so wasnt placed..
