  1. According to the Jockey's Club, the horse would be disqualified.

  2. No. The jockey must finish on the horse for it to count

  3. No if a rider falls of his horse before the finish line the horse is considered DNF which stands for  Did Not Finish.  A horse has to cross the finish line with it's rider in order to win the race.

  4. No. The rider must be aboard when they reach the wire to be declared the winner.

  5. The horse would be disqualified if it does not have its jockey!

  6. Yes, and niggerz can fly!

  7. The horse has to carry a set amount of weight from start to finish.  If anything falls off the horse or if the jockey and equipment weighs less after the race than before, then the horse is disqualified.  The DQ is not meant as punishment for throwing a rider or anything like that...  it's just meant for fairness.  If a horse drops his jockey and runs to the lead and wins the race, it's not fair to the horse carrying 120 pounds.

If the rider stays on the horse, but falls sideways and is hanging on to the neck and can't use the reins to direct the horse, but the horse wins, then there's no DQ...  so long as all the weight stays on the horse, then it can win.

  8. What a stupid question, kind of like asking if you can win the Indy 500 with a remote control car. As an aside to Barbaro, race someone who is carrying 120 lbs on their back and see if you can beat them fool

  9. No, horses are automatically disqualified if they throw their riders. A horse that crosses the finish line riderless will not be considered in the final placings of the race.

  10. No.  And to the person who was impressed that a horse crossed the finish line in a race first without it's rider, you do realize he had just lost 100lbs of baggage, right?

  11. no, which is so g*y

but i seen a race once that a horse lost it's jockey but the horse still won by like 5 lenghts!

that musta been one heck of a horse to do that

im surprised they didn't let it win!

  12. No.  Even if the horse crosses the wire, it's considered a DQ.  That happened in the Dixie Stakes, two races before the Preakness.  Mending Fences went down, and Einstein's jockey had to bail to keep from running into Mending Fences.  Einstein crossed the wire, but was DQ'd.  And Mending Fences had to be euthanized due to a broken right foreleg.

  13. a horse who crosses the finish line without it's jockey is declared a starter but, because it lost it's rider it will be declared a non-finisher, i saw a horse at Del mar, named "modus di'vindi" it won the race, but threw off jockey don pierce during the pull-up, this horse then came all the way back to the winners circle and waited until it's handlers took it into the circle to have it's picture taken without the jockey....the race is now official.

  14. No.  A horse has to carry the assigned weight from start to finish in a race, and obviously a horse that has lost its rider is not carrying the assigned weight for the full distance of the race.

There was a race, I think it was at Golden Gate Fields some years ago, where the jockey came loose from the saddle and grabbed the horse's neck.  He was literally swinging under the horse's neck, holding on for dear life, as his "mount" crossed the finish line in second place.  The stewards held an inquiry on the race, and decided that the horse had indeed "carried" the full weight of the jockey for the full distance of the race, since the rider's feet didn't touch the ground until after he crossed the finish line.  The horse kept the placing and the stewards ruled the second place was official.

The only race that I know of where the horse can win the race without its rider is the Palio of Siena, Italy.  In that race, which is strictly unofficial and in which wagering is person-to-person and contrada to contrada, the horse that crosses the finish line first is the winner, never mind if the rider is intact or not.  http://www.ilpalio.org/palioenglish.htm

  16. He can cross the line first but it will show up as a DNF - Did not Finish.

  17. He might beat the pack, but would be disqualified.
