I really like a few different varieties of houseplants but they are poisonous to my cats. Can something like nephthytis or croton grow in a fishtank with only incandescent light, soil, and fertilizer? I don't want to risk having them anywhere near windows even inside an aquarium. It's a 2.5 gal tank with a 10w(?) light bulb. I can get a more powerful one if needed. Is this possible?

  1. Possibly. It depends on how much light the plant gets and how much you water it.

  2. No you cant it is the wrong type of light not enough of the blue spectrum. there are special bulbs out there or the best thing to get is a tube that they use for fish tanks ..Metal Halide bulbs

and the tubes do not get as hot and will not burn the plants,

    hope this is a help.
