Depends on the individual involved.  Some POWs survive, some don't.  Survival of the ones that can figure out how to survive.  If you are thrown into France and can't speak French then your survival is less certain than someone with French 101.  If you crash into a snow mountain.  Do you stay in the airplane or go to a snow cave?  The answer snow cave.  It will be warmer than the airplane.  Learn survival skills just in case.

  5. Of course, humans are one of the most adaptive creatures on the planet.

    You find them in the best and harshest of environments.  Deserts, Arctic, Tropical and even underwater.

    Humans are more than capable of surviving in most environments especially if given enough time to adapt.
