Question:

Can a java fern live without a florescent aquarium light?

Just wondering cuz I'm thinking of adding them to my betta tanks.

  1. Yup, it will be alright, so long as it gets some light. Just be warned, they grow alot! I have a Java Fern that is overrunning my five gallon tank.


  2. If you put it in a place where it can get a fair amount of natural light you should be good.  Java fern have low light requirements.

  3. Yes. They don't need much light, so they should be OK without flourescents.

    Newly hatched betta fry don't eat plants. But on the other hand if there are microscopic creatures living in the java fern they will eat that.

    They will eat infusoria, microwworms, small newly hatched brine shrimp, and small daphnia. If you need to know how to produce those, I will be glad to tell you. Good luck.


  4. yes just make sure it doesnt take up to much room in a betta tank.
