  1. Well, every month that the entire balance is not paid off he is charged credit on the entire amount.

You need to get a loan or your own card and pay off what you owe. Then you can both be free to go your own way.

You owe him - pay it ASAP.

  2. Go to court with a receipt for every payment you've been making.  He can sue and since you agree you owe, he can win a judgment.  But make sure you get credit for everything you have already paid.

He might not win if you are making the payments and that is the agreement.

  3. Is your name on the card?

If it is not, I have trouble understanding why you would be liable for any of the expenses.

  4. Don't stop. Why? The judge may help find you in good favor of at least taking on the responsibility for that situation, but you can also try to countersue for the money that you have put up to take care of the bill.
