Can a juniper bonsai be indoors?

  1. It can be indoors in the summer, provided the air is not too dry or you mist it now and then, because cooling the house will dry the air a little.  But in winter, they need the cold and so I either put them out in a cold-frame or I sink their little pots into a place I normally plant annuals, so the space is open all winter, and the moist earth protects the pot from freezing too hard as well as reducing watering needs over the winter.  I try to be sure that area has a wind-break as well, so the drying winter winds do not hurt the bonzai.  

    If you do keep them in, they just die by drying out - still green but dull and stone-cold-dead. (Trust me, I made this mistake once - forgot they are not a tropical.)


  2. It can but that's not it's normal habitat so it may die there. Please read the care instructions on this site for outdoor bonsai as the juniper is naturally an outdoor plant.
